Team
Two founders from the sterile processing floor, and the counsel who handles the patents.
Founders
Ryan Ramkhelawan & Shawn Flynn
Restore was built by people who had run a sterile processing department, not by people who had only visited one.
The company was formed in Atlanta, moved to Memphis in 2012 for the Bioworks ZeroTo510 accelerator, secured venture capital, and took its first product from concept to a certified, FDA-cleared line.
The team
Three names, as published
Ryan Ramkhelawan
CEO / Co-founder
Before Restore, Ryan worked at one of the largest Level-1 trauma centers in the southeast as an orthopedics and neurosurgery liaison, focused on process improvement to increase the number of surgeries performed and decrease complications. That, plus twelve years in healthcare as a surgical first assist and transplant perfusionist, gave him the grounding to address efficiency inside a hospital’s sterile processing department.
Shawn M. Flynn
President / Co-founder
Shawn was manager of the Sterile Processing Department at one of the largest Level-1 trauma centers in the southeast, with twenty-three years of healthcare and surgical experience. He restructured sterile storage, replaced antiquated equipment, built a career ladder focused on retention, consolidated high-level disinfectant within SPD, and updated policies to AAMI, AORN and CDC standards. Before that he worked in tissue recovery and tissue banking.
Mat Grell
General Counsel
Mat is a founding partner of Balser & Grell with fifteen years of IP experience, concentrating on patent drafting and prosecution and on business contracts. Before founding the firm he was a patent attorney at Myers & Kaplan in Atlanta, and from 2000 to 2004 VP and General Counsel for Movaz Networks, including formation, raising $150M in capital, M&A due diligence and export compliance.
Board and advisors
The site also carried separate pages for the Restore Medical Solutions, Inc. board and for advisors. Those pages were not captured, so no names are listed here rather than guessing at them.
